My Love Affair with Clean Living

Diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) in my youth, by the time I reached my 20s I struggled with symptoms. PCOS is a hormonal disorder that can cause cysts on your ovaries, obesity and struggles with infertility, to state a few. Women with PCOS are also at a higher risk of becoming diabetic due to the body having difficulty regulating insulin. I was prescribed a pill to help with my symptoms, but the side effects were terrible. I discontinued the pill, under my doctor’s supervision and decided to do some research to educate myself about the disorder. I was surprised to learn that a lot of hormone imbalances, like with PCOS, are affected by the food we eat and the chemicals in our home. It was the first time since my diagnosis that I felt like I had some control over my body again.

With life changes; starting with my diet, eliminating the toxins in my home and commitment, I’ve been able to control my symptoms naturally ever since. And so started my love affair with all things healthy and natural. Once I became pregnant with my first child, I was even more committed to being as healthy as possible and conscious of the mother I wanted to be. I realized that I would be on stage 24/7. Nine years and another baby later, I am still symptom free and trying to keep the balance between my kale salad and enjoying a slice of flan. Do I get lazy? Absolutely!! Do I indulge more than I should sometimes? Sure do!! Do I cut myself some slack? Every single time.

I am human, not a robot. Eating organic, whole foods, limiting processed food and being active is me trying to be the best version of myself. I deserve it, so do you! It's forever changed the quality of my life. My goal is to help people...people like you.
